If you’re thinking about a gas boiler replacement in South County Dublin, Naas or Kildare, you could be entitled to a grant for your project. The SEAI offers grants towards heating control and solar panel costs, provided they form part of a bigger energy-efficiency project.
The scheme is available to any homeowner in Ireland, including owners of buy-to-let properties. To qualify for the heating control grant, your property needs to date from before 2006, or 2011 for the solar heating system support.
The SEAI Grant for Heating Controls
If you’re already planning a gas boiler replacement, why not make your new system even more effective with the latest in efficient heating controls?
An SEAI heating controls grant is worth up to €750 (the amount of the grant depends on how many other energy efficient upgrades you’re carrying out). A state-of-the-art control system will let you programme the heating and hot water to come on when you need them, and will also help you set up separate heating “zones” in your house. Thermostats will ensure the system switches off when the right temperature is reached. All these features prevent energy waste, while saving you money.
Solar Water Heating Grants
You can save around half your water heating costs by installing solar water heating. Roof-mounted panels absorb sunlight, which heats a carrier fluid. This is used to warm the water in your hot water cylinder. If you’re planning a gas boiler upgrade, it’s worth thinking about building solar energy into your new system.
Again, SEAI offers homeowners a grant towards their solar heating costs, up to a maximum of €1200.
